There is a constant battle between who we are, what we
strive to be and the lies we tell ourselves and the lies we believe.
What great tragedy it is when we fight for our identity as we scramble over falsehoods. How are we supposed to know who we are if we constantly have other people telling us who and what we are? Do we strive on labels? Must we grab at thin air to catch a name for ourselves that others might recognize, look up to, and relate to?

We will always have certain labels. Mother, father,
daughter, son, brother, sister, friend etc. These labels are constant,
assuring, and should be comforting. Once you are a father you will always be a
father. Whether it’s your first child or your eighth, whether you’re grand or
great! Some of these labels change with time like, friend, to best-friend, or
boyfriend. These relationships are what we should cling to, strive for, grow
in, and wear proudly.
But we live in this broken, beaten, but still alive world.
Where darkness descends upon these relationships like night takes over day.
Strife ensues and heartbreak is a result as we let that dark storm take over.
But that heartbreak, that strife can be beaten back. We can
toil through the storms together and instead of breaking us it can make us
stronger, our lives held together by strengthened bonds, bringing back the
light into our relationships.
While this is a very black and white concept there are varying
shades in between with different hues and values. But my point here is that we
are all candles in the dark, and if we stick together our combined flames will
light up a room. This blog will be about my ramblings and thoughts, life
lessons, and the journey through this maze of life from my point of view. My mission
for now is to unlock the light in all of us so we can shine all the brighter.
